Les tapis des Aït Ouaouzguit, confédération de tribus berbères habitant le Jbel Siroua au sud du Haut-Atlas occidental, sont tissés en général dans une dominante jaune et construits avec une architecture fermée qui dans un cadre inscrit un médaillon central et parfois des caissons; cette architecture est une évolution historique du 19ème siècle à laquelle n'a échappé pratiquement aucun tapis berbère de cette région au 20ème siècle. En celà, le tapis berbère apparaissant ci-dessous est assez exceptionnel car bien qu'assez récent (un trentaine d'années), il est construit "à l'ancienne", constitué uniquement d'une succession de registres à motifs géométriques, et donc ouvert/sans cadre, comme tous les tapis berbères anciens. Les motifs employés sont d'origine très ancienne et purement berbère. L'ensemble est tissé de laines filées main. Dimensions: env 320 x 150 cm.

Aït Wauzgit people inhabit the Jbel Sirwa, a volcanic mountainous area located south of the High Atlas and south of Marrakech. The are a confederation of many berber tribes, whose rugs dominantly display a yellow color, and a closed architecture with a border all around a field often centered on a medaillon, and sometimes enclosing end "boxes". This being a 19th century evolution that almost no 20th such berber rug of that origin escaped, this carpet appears therefore quite exceptionnal because fairly recent (about 30 years). As all ancient berber rugs, it has no frame and is made of a series of wide bands furbished with very old berber motives. It is woven using the symetric knot and handspun wools.
